What?! I've been the self-proclaimed biggest stalker of Big Grandma's Kitchen since the beginning and I'm ashamed for not having written a review for them yet!!! I'm one of those customers who gets into the front of the line and says, "Hi, I'm back again!" I've stalked them at the Altadena Farmers Market, Molcajete Dominguero, West Covina Farmers Market, and even at the Latina Fest! They have the best grilled pupusas I've ever had! Most of the other pupusas I've had are that once I tear it open, there is always an overwhelming amount of grease and cheese that just comes pouring out to the point where I almost stopped eating pupusas forever. However, the way Chef Lima makes his pupusas is that once you tear open that pupusa, you can actually see the ingredients inside and no grease! I've had their Revueltas (add jalapeños), Beans & Cheese, Chicken, Asada, Loroco & Cheese, Spinach & Cheese, and their Squash & Cheese Pupusas! Delicious! I always crave their Chicharron con yucca. My girlfriend loves their Spinach con Yucca. Their homemade Curtido and salsa are amazing, which is why we always ask for extra. I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the many times I've had their yucca dishes and their Ensalada drink because it always gets devoured before the camera even lays its lenses on it. No matter how busy they are, they always focus on quality over quantity. They also have an Instagram account, which I follow to see what other events they are at. When I'm craving pupusas and yucca, I know where to go!

Went to West Covina Farmer's market with my son's insistence on me trying pupsas for the first time. Drove the15 miles from Pasadena and the Pupusa did not disappoint. They were not greasy. Considering it was 90 degrees outside I was glad we went. The food were very flavorful and on point. Very generous serving.. The staff are very engaging and took the time to explain the food. I had the Yuca with chicharron, and my son had the Spinach Pupusa and the Revuelta (pork, bean & cheese), Pupusa. After finding out I had never had Pupusas, Big Grandma's kindly included an extra beef Pupusa. The Pupusa came with a salsa and picked radish which complimented it very well. Hats off to the chef. Will probably brave the traffic next time I'm back.

I wish I had pictures of all of the food I've had here. The pupusas are the best I've had, they aren't greasy at all and the perfect size! Revueltas are the majority favorite, but I personally like their loroco or spinach with jalapeño. So good! The plantains are delish, get them with the cinnamon drizzle. Hot day and you need a cold drink? The ensalada will change your life! Sometimes they have special menus offering other Salvadoran treats like the pan con pollo, the atole de elote, the Salvadoran soda float, etc. Keep your eye out for these limited items, they're limited for a reason; they go fast! Thanks Big Grandma's kitchen for serving up great Salvadoran food.

Found this gem at the West Covina farmers market. Their pupusas are awesome especially the pulled pork one. Only $3.50 for one and so tasty. Loved the salsa it came with can't wait to try again!

One of the main reasons I frequent the Altadena Farmers market every Wednesday. This place never disappoints. I get their revuelta pupusa light cheese w/ garnishes on the side. Their pupusas are consistently good- not greasy and perfect size for $3.50. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Their ensalada (a drink) is literally so good and is the best option to help you wash down the pupusa. It is super refreshing. I'll be honest with you and say I've tried a few Salvadoran places and pupusas have not always been my favorite item. However, after trying Big Grandmas Kitchen pupusas are one of my favorites now. Keep your eye out for them and definitely try it. Sometimes the wait period is long (they're very popular) but they're so good I don't care.
